A collection of my favourite personal photos.
When it snows maintenance crews scatter rock salt on the stairs leading down to Spadina subway station. People walking through have worn a path with the meltwater.
This photo combines some of my very favourite elements. Strict geometry, strong lines, and a very wide angle lens.
When the elephants aren't out at the Toronto Zoo, a rhino makes a good substitute.
Snow storms in Toronto are about the most attractive time of the winter. It's a great time for longer lenses with hoods that keep them dry.
This won a ribbon at one of my club's clinics, which made sense since it was my third choice of the three that I submitted.
I was working with the idea of creating still life compositions out of normal scenes, and this was a simple study in lighting and colour harmonies.
How could I not take this photo?
What amazes me is looking back over my collection, I can see that I'm just as far from the opposite horizon: I'm in the middle of a bowl, not on the edge of a rise.
Bryce Canyon in the rain. Although it was a major destination, I only had an hour or two to see the sights.
The Excalibur Hotel in Las Vegas, with New York New York in the background. This won a ribbon in the 2007/8 Print Clinic in my club, surprising many people, myself included.
Shot from a moving car, this is a field that really did have a yellowish hue, although I don't know what was growing in it. I may have helped the other colours a bit.
This scored 13 out of a possible 30 in the 'Creative Digital' competition at my club, which is a result that I'm quite pleased with. It was tied for the lowest mark given to an Intermediate member.
I have this photo framed on my living room wall.
Shot in an aquarium, this squid was observing me behind glass just as much as I was watching it.
