A collection of my favourite personal photos.
Male Lowland Gorilla, African Rain Forest Exhibit.
This is the Leslie Street Spit, which is a construction-waste landfill jutting into lake Ontario, and was taken while I was out with my club. My fellow photographers were mostly on the Toronto-side shoreline, with its trees and birds, while I went to the far side with its cleared ground and No Trespassing signs.
I love it when everything in a photo points to one place, and it's even better when there's something there.
When it snows maintenance crews scatter rock salt on the stairs leading down to Spadina subway station. People walking through have worn a path with the meltwater.
This photo combines some of my very favourite elements. Strict geometry, strong lines, and a very wide angle lens.
When the elephants aren't out at the Toronto Zoo, a rhino makes a good substitute.
Snow storms in Toronto are about the most attractive time of the winter. It's a great time for longer lenses with hoods that keep them dry.
This won a ribbon at one of my club's clinics, which made sense since it was my third choice of the three that I submitted.
I was working with the idea of creating still life compositions out of normal scenes, and this was a simple study in lighting and colour harmonies.
